August 12, 2026

Three massive days. Endless technical inspiration. Countless conversations with the studios actively pushing global game development forward.

ChinaJoy 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) is officially wrapped. If you have ever attended, you know the energy on the floor is on a completely different level. It is a massive intersection of cutting-edge tech showcases, fresh gaming trends, and the executives who actually dictate where the industry is heading next.

For the HPL Game Design team, the trip was highly intentional. We spent the week taking in the incredible visual benchmarks set by new game demos, but the real highlights happened away from the main stages. Games are not built alone, they are built on strong connections, shared visions, and bulletproof production strategies.

Here is our complete breakdown of how ChinaJoy 2026 unfolded and what we took away from the floor.

Day 1

The opening day always sets an aggressive pace, and this year’s tech showcases did not disappoint.

The floor was dominated by next-gen mobile chipsets, advanced rendering hardware, and AI integration tools. Watching these tech showcases confirmed exactly what we’ve been preparing for: the hardware ceiling is rising, and assets need to be optimized flawlessly to keep up.

We hit the ground running, experiencing incredible game demos from around the globe. Seeing how top-tier studios handle high-density environments and cinematic rendering on live builds gave us massive creative inspiration to bring back to our 2D and 3D teams.

Day 2

By Day 2, the focus shifted heavily into the B2B halls for high-value strategic exchanges.

The highlight of the event was finally connecting face-to-face with brilliant developers, publishers, and creative leaders. We traded the digital calls for real conversations about where global game design is heading.

The overarching theme of our meetings was clear: asset pipeline scalability. Studios are actively looking for reliable outsourcing collaborations. We spent hours discussing co-development workflows and how to keep high-fidelity assets lightweight and engine-compliant for upcoming titles.

Day 3

The final day is always a sprint to solidify connections before the teardown begins.

We wrapped up our last technical deep-dives, shook hands on future collaborations, and packed up our gear with a clear view of where regional and global game development is heading next.

Beyond the Expo Floor

ChinaJoy 2026 proved just how fast our industry is evolving. The standard for game design is higher than ever, and the studios that will dominate the next release cycle are the ones prioritizing smart, optimized co-development right now.

A massive thank you to every publisher, developer, and studio that took the time to meet with the HPL representatives in Shanghai. If we caught you at the expo, drop your studio handle below or send us a message.

Let’s keep the conversation going, get back to the pipeline, and build something great together.
