August 12, 2026
It has been a few days since the doors closed on the Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, and our team is finally catching our breath. We teased a full recap on our socials, and honestly, the floor energy this year was absolutely unreal.
If you were tracking the event, you already know PGDX is the epicenter for the regional game development ecosystem. For HPL Game Design, our favorite moments weren’t just about showcasing our own workflows—they were found in the high-value conversations, the creative exchanges, and catching up with the developers, studios, and creators actively pushing the medium forward.
If you missed the action or just want to relive the weekend, here is our complete breakdown of what actually went down on the floor.
Day 1
The first day always sets the tone, and this year, the industry came out swinging.

- ■ HPL Booth Drop-Ins: We saw packed booth visits right out of the gate. From global publishers to local indie devs, the conversations immediately jumped into deep-dive technical chats about 2D/3D workflows and how to optimize complex asset pipelines.
- ■ Indie Game Showcases: The indie floor opened up with some of the most innovative, visually striking demos we’ve seen in years, proving the local scene is leveling up its cinematic and mechanical quality.
- ■ Industry Panels: Major leaders took the stage to discuss publishing strategies and the future of engine compliance in modern game architecture.
Day 2
The second day was the absolute peak of the event, driven entirely by the game dev community.

- ■ Networking at Scale: The floor traffic was massive. We spent hours talking shop and trading ideas with fellow creators. The sheer volume of B2B networking highlighted how much studios are looking for reliable co-development partners.
- ■ Technical Workshops: The side stages were packed with developers breaking down AI integration, advanced rigging, and production efficiency validating exactly what we’ve been saying about the need for clean, lightweight development frameworks.
- ■ Hardware & Peripherals: Tech brands brought their heavy hitters, running high-energy live demos that showcased exactly the kind of hardware modern games need to target.
Day 3
The last day is always about making those final connections count before the teardown begins.

- ■ Future Pipeline Collaborations: We locked in some incredible conversations regarding upcoming projects. Studios are realizing that scaling up requires smart, optimized outsourcing, and the alignment we found on the floor was massive.
- ■ Showmatches & Stage Hype: The main stage brought the heat with live gameplay, wrapping up the expo with the kind of high-energy community celebration that reminds us all why we work in this industry.
